Dear Incoming Freshman,

First and foremost, congratulations and welcome to Ball State University. College is a great time in our lives where we have the opportunity to expand our horizons with all that a university has to offer. We encourage you to take your education seriously and participate in it actively. In doing so, your time spent at Ball State will be memorable and worthwhile.


Excellence in scholarship is very important to The Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta, as it is one of our Five Values. Our commitment to scholarship is the reason we want to give something back to the University, and we believe that rewarding scholastic and extra-curricular achievement to deserving individuals is the best way to fulfill our values and do our part. As such, joining Phi Gamma Delta is not a requirement to be considered for this scholarship.


It is our desire to award three recipients with a $1,000 Black Diamond Scholarship each. Applicants must be first-year, freshmen male students enrolled in at least 12 credit hours for the Fall 2021 semester. Candidates will be selected from returned applications to move on to an interview round. Applications can be mailed to the address above ATTN: Black Diamond Scholarship or filled out online at Applications are due no later than Sunday, August 14th. If you are selected to move on, you will be notified in the following days regarding your interview time on Saturday, August 20th. The winners will be recognized on or before Wednesday, Wednesday, August 31st.
